ICE Estimates, LLC was founded in 2025 after Cassaundra identified a critical gap in the insurance industry and construction industry, hence the name “ICE Estimates” standing for “Insurance, Construction, Estimates.”
Drawing on her extensive experience as an insurance agent, an adjuster, a roofer, and general contractor, she witnessed first hand the friction between contractors and adjusters, adjusters and agents, and agents and contractors, leaving the homeowner to “pick a side.”
Some contractors are unfamiliar with the specific software—such as Xactimate, Benchmark Reports, ITEL Reports, and others—and the internal hurdles adjusters face. Many contractors believe insurance companies purposely lowball estimates, but that’s not always true. Most of the time, they just need more support and the contractor doesn’t know the support and justification they need to submit to the insurance company. This often lead to frustration.
Agents are often left in the dark with claims and are told to let the adjuster handle it. But the homeowner is their client, and they want to help. Sometimes, the homeowner gets so frustrated with the claim they leave the insurance company, which results in lost business for the agent.
The adjuster typically doesn’t have general contractors knowledge, so sometimes when it’s obvious to the contractor, it’s not obvious to them and things can get missed. This can lead to things not getting approved. The adjuster also has timelines they have to meet required by the state, and they will have more claims than they can handle. This leads to getting the estimate written as quickly as possible, not as accurate as possible.
This lack of alignment often leads to mutual frustration. While other estimating firms exist, many are incentivized to “fluff” numbers to increase their own fees. This practice destroys trust, damages a contractor’s reputation, and ignores the “fair market value” standards carriers follow.
